Need tips/advice on 1 foot balance tricks.
Posted by: redstar - 07-18-2012, 03:01 AM - Forum: Help and How To - No Replies

Okay so I am trying to really start making progress and going to be riding every night (or try).

I started to try a new thing tonight for the first time. Doing a wheelie (foot in seat) and then lifting my foot off of the foot brake and just kinda letting it float in the air. I noticed me feeling very uncomfortable because of how much pressure my left foot was receiving and also a lot of stress on my arms. I did it for a bit but with all the stress I started to get a wobble.

What I am curious about is how you guys do it with such smoothness.

Should I try seat stander and then removing my foot? Also I assume keeping the bike up past bp would also help with smoothing it out? or am I wrong?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated! I want to start moving around on the bike!

 rolling looooong stoppies - advice
Posted by: Nick Storm - 07-16-2012, 03:07 PM - Forum: Stunt Discussion - Replies (25)

So I can just about double my aproach from a 120foot run up and I really want to see if I can stretch it further so I'm keen to hear from those who can, or those who've seen them do it )

things I do so far:

suspension = basically all on hard?

steering damper up to max?

Bang it straight from full power to hard on brake - get as high as quick as possible.

bend in arms or straight arms - what difference does it make?

What's the best way to practice the lauch?
What's the best way to practice getting closer to BP? i.e.
Does BP change with speed? Until recently I've always assumed it was lower @ higher speed and higher at lower speeds...

any ideas tips or help well welcome!!!

How to: DIY Hole in seat
Posted by: 762SPR - 07-15-2012, 07:06 PM - Forum: Help and How To - Replies (39)

I was talking with Zeus_R6 the other day about ordering some nice HT moto seat covers through his shop and getting my rear seat done so I can start doing FIS... Then he told me what HT moto charges to do the stunt seat! Well, from what I heat, HT moto seats are the best of the best, so if you have the $$, then maybe you should just get one. As for me, try as I might, whenever I sit on the toilet only one thing comes out of my ass and it ain't money!

So I did a little reading and decided I would attempt doing the mod myself. I got a yard of heavy duty textured vinyl from the local upholstery shop, and we had the foam lying around in the shop.

A little note on the foam. It is my understanding that you want the highest density foam you can get. I would also imagine you would want pretty firm foam. The high density will make it less prone to braking down. The foam I used it pretty light density but the material seems durable. I'm a little concerned about it collapsing after a while, but it's what I had so I guess I'll see ho it turns out. The point is if you are ordering some, go for high density!

Now on to the fun. Here is the seat how it came on the bike.

First thing is to pull the staples from the cover and get it off.

Then I cut a hole in the seat with a dremel and cutoff wheel. Wear eye pro, unless you want to catch molten plastic in your eye!

Next, I flipped over the seat pan and traced it onto the foam.

Both sides cutout. I used a bandsaw because I had it and I'm lazy, but a knife works surprisingly well at cutting this stuff.

gas cap leaking?
Posted by: JohnnyP - 07-15-2012, 05:41 AM - Forum: Quads / Dirtbikes / Motard / Trials - Replies (8)

What are you guys using for gas caps? I rode my 2012 KX450F SM for the first time today and had 2 problems...One was the oil breather spitting out oil after wheelies, but thats a simple fix I knew I was going to need a catch can for it...

The other is my gas cap, leaking like crazy after wheelies or stoppies...I hate gas balls... So what are you guys using for a gas cap? I dont even think it was coming out of the breather, it seems like it was out around the nipple in the cap that the breather is on....

1 year in jail for 3rd wheelie in illinois
Posted by: jordanv3122 - 07-14-2012, 11:29 PM - Forum: Stunt Discussion - Replies (19)

several people have been blowin up facebook with this new wheelie law going into effect jan 1st 2013. assuming we get a halfway decent day in january im bundling up and hittin streets son! STREETS!!! im gonna eat a starburst while i do it too.

quote from local radio station website-
"So if you ride a motorcycle, chances are you may have tried to pull a wheelie or two in your day.

Maybe you’re crazy enough to pull one on the highway, because you’re a badass.

Well, if a cop sees you doing that now, you’re gonna get pulled over.Governer Pat Quinn took the time out from fixing the economy to sign into a law a provision that says if you get caught doing a wheelie by the cops, they’re going to give you a $100 fine.

If you get caught popping another wheelie, you’re going to get up to six months in jail and a $1500 fine.

Three times and you’re facing a year in jail and a $2500 fine. Imagine explaining to all your best jail friends that you’re behind bars for popping three wheelies on the highway.

Don’t get me wrong, popping wheelies on a motorcycle is dangerous, let alone at 80mph; but it’s hardly stupid enough to be imprisoned for.

Oh PS – another provision is that you have to keep at least one hand on the handlebars at all times while riding.

To recap: one hand on the handlebars at all times, and no wheelies, but you still don’t have a to wear a helmet.

Glad they took the time to focus on important state matters."
