520 Chain Conversion

Hey guys, if I buy a new 520 chain and it has too many links, it can be cut down to fit the sprockets correct?

Yup! Just make sure you get the master link style and safety wire it! We all know rivet style is betterer, but it's a PITA.

im looking on stunt factory at the EK SRX Chains but I dont see anything about a master link. Guessing i have to find that somewhere else? What do you suggest?

The EK chains usually come with the standard clip link. If it does come with a rivet link you can always buy a EK clip link for your chain size 520. Make sure you match the link up to the same brand as your chain. I have seen different lengths of the pins between different manufacturers such as did ek etc

I have always bought chains from him just because he gets them to me quick and has decent prices with free shipping. Also, I would never use a clip style master link. Screw that, seeing one break and the chain end up destroying a lower crankcase was enough for me to never use one. Rivet style links aren't a pain in the ass if you have the right tools, a good chain rivet tool makes it much easier than a damn clip style to install IMHO and experience. Anyways if you do order from Corey at motomummy you will get a chain with a rivet style master, I would just make sure in the comment box to type Clip style or rivet style master for which ever you choose.

I run a EK MVXZ 520, pretty sure that's the strongest 520 they make. Oh and one more tid bit before I shut up. When deciding on your master just remember this, your chain is only as strong as it's weakest link which would be the master.

I have never had a problem with clip links. You just should make sure the opening is facing backwards to the way the chain is going.

clip links are for a dirtbike making <50 hp. rivet always. Dont need any special tools.

*small c-clamp
*use a small punch to install(have someone hold a block or hammer to the other side of the chain.)
* us a small punch to mushroom out the rivets.

Done!

Im not sure were ure getting ure info but clip style links are made for sport bikes as long as u put them on in the right direction they wont come off
