fuel pump issue but not a fuel pump issue...
#1
pump will only prime after i flip the key between off and on about 7-8 times. thot it was the fuel pump so i tried a new one and it still does it. i hooked up a tester light to check the plug that connects to the fuel pump it does the same. only has pwr when i flip the key on and off about 7-8 times then the light flips off. when i do get it started it will stay running and i can hit the kill switch and kill the bike then flip the ks back and it will start as long as i DONT turn the key off. i know its not the fuel pump but a buddy of mine told me it could be the dial or resistor in the ignition for the key. is that correct or have any ideas and how to test it?

i had an issue quite similar to this, was a loose wire in the ignition, soldered it back on good and it ran like a champ

Check the kill switch, wires there may be getting a bad connection. Try bypassing kickstand too. Could be numerous things loose, but I'd check those.

sort of having same issue, grounded something out in the ignition connector, now bike will turn over but fuel pump won't prime but it does work when jumped but bike still won't start. going to check the start stop next but anyone else have any ideas this is the second time this has happened miraculously fixed its self last time.

Could be the fuel pump relay switch also? Dose the fuel pump relay click every time you turn the ignition on and off?

If the fuel pump relay is defiantly clicking every time you turn the key on and off then you know you need to start tracking ignition wires and other possibility's.

If the fuel pump relay isn't clicking pull the turn signal relay and swap it and try turning it on and off again and see if that solves the problem.

Don't think so and can say most likely not. where is the switch. The start switch relay does for sure though

Sorry bout the confusion. No the fuel relay doesn't click. The turn signal stuff is long gone.
