Just picked up another F4i this weekend. It is a complete track bike. So I went through the whole bike and came upon the airbox mod that has been done but seems completely wrong. The two reed valves are just connected with one tube. No T joint anywhere. The tube that connects to the rear of the airbox has been removed and hole blocked. That's correct at least. But the frone airbox hole is still open and has the tube connected that goes to the head on the left. Took it for a drive and its got nice power in the higher rpms but lacks down low as when I cluth it for a wheelie it basically stutters a while until the revs get higher then all is fine. The head gasket is fine and bike has been running like this for a while on the track. I intend to change it to OMR airmod spec but just need opinions as to why anyone would do it like this? Bike makes 103hp on a dyno at rear wheel as it is now.
2nd Q: converted my other F4i back to a street ride but still have the oil overfilled. Can it damage my engine when riding at high rpms?
Thanx to all
Can't post pics of how the mod has been done as I don't have access to a pc for a couple of days.
