I know you're not scared to join because you're talking about it. I was talking about scared of combat. I wasn't sure if you were a guy being funny by saying you're a girl because you didn't want to actually fight. Sorry. I love the Army but that's what i'm used to and been in for a while now. I also love what I do. Every one is different but it is what you make of it. Seriously though look in AF.

Sorry but had to ask True, in th Army you may run a few miles time to time but support mostly runs two miles. You will be fine.. You can go MP or even transportation or medic. Transportation you will get out and see some things. It's one of the most dangerous jobs. Medic you can be at a CASH. If you are going to dothe MP thing go air force. Shorter deployments there and you can be a crew chief which is exciting too. You can have your bike in AIT but depending on what you decide for an MOS. YOU MAY NOT HAVE alot of time to ride it and you have to be close to home because they won't ship anything for you until you complete ait and get a duty station.

^^^this...Transportation,MP,or medic. all female roles that will see action overseas. Transportation is kinda boring, on my second deployment we did super convoy logistical patrols...IE guarding white trucks (foreign nationals) that delivered supplies(food,fuel,water). we got hit least once a week and found IEDs every week. Almost every other day found some IED's and about once a week we got hit. It's hard not to get hit when your convoy involves 90 semi's and 11 gun trucks... super long nights and a nightmare of problems.
I agree AF has shorter deployments and their basic training is prob more relaxed. I went to Army basic 11 years ago and it wasn't easy, but as long as you do what your told and do pt just about anyone can do it.

Think I'll just stick to my original plan with the Army, BCT isn't forever! 10/mi run with 40lbs ruck sack, here I come

No prob.. You dont have to run ten miles with a rucksack though..lol ruckmarch maybe but doubtful

Why would you ever chose army over AF? AF seems way easier/less risky/same pay/more opportunity for advancement and future out of military career development.

I'm not going in because it's going to be easy, for the pay, benefits, safety, or for a career, though a career maybe a bonus.
I'm going in because thats where I want to be, even if there was no benefit to me. However, I can see why people join for the benefits and I respect that!
I've decided to stick with the Army, I talked to my recruiter today after PT about getting down to MEPS and getting into the future soldier program, DEP, or something like that.

I'm completely in the same boat. I decided to go back to school and join AFROTC this fall. I'm not in it for the money or benefits or anything.. I just need a change in my life and joining the military has been something I've always wanted to do, but didn't have the balls to follow through. This Feb. I lost my job and after a month of screwing around, I decided it was finally time to pull the trigger. I was originally just going to enlist, but my dad works for a college so I get to go to school for free, so I figured wth.. why not go in as an officer.
Anyway, onto my point for posting this. I know you've pretty much decided to stick with army.. but I figured I'd throw this in. I have a lot of friends in the Army and they all love it and have met a bunch of awesome people. However, they all told me to join another branch because they treat you like shit compared to other branches. I'm more interested in Aerospace anyway, so I decided to go Air Force. I also have a bunch of friends in the Air Force and they all love it as well. Just figured I'd throw some thoughts your way for you to ponder.
I've also been told that the Air Force has a lot more women than any other branch

Yea, I know the Army treats you like garbage, but I want a MOS thats going to get me outside the wire, or something similar! If that'll happen or not idk, but I gotta better chance w/ the Army then AF for that.
What MOS do you want with the AF?

I'm a girl, and also straight - so this doesn't really benefit me, if anything it's opposite, I don't usually like other girls (typical female ) Also I was told a while ago that I'd have to cut my hair to my shoulders...hell no! It'd take me years to get it back to the length it is now, my hair grows very slowly!

I'm a girl, and also straight - so this doesn't really benefit me, if anything it's opposite, I don't usually like other girls (typical female ) Also I was told a while ago that I'd have to cut my hair to my shoulders...hell no! It'd take me years to get it back to the length it is now, my hair grows very slowly!

I figured if I'm going to be an officer, I'm guna at least try to bust my ass to become a pilot or navigator or something. If not, possibly something in computers or security. Pilot is my only priority right now.. If I can't do that, I'll find something else.
I originally wanted to work on jet engines or be an aerial gunner or something.. but I can't do that if I go in as an officer.
