636 broken headlight tabs...repair idea

\r\n \r\n shit johnny i cant believe i did not notice those 3 holes!! definitly my fault...ill blame it on installing it in a semi-dark garage lol.....from your experience is it sturdy enough with those 3 mounts and not the other tabs or should i still try to fix those things? really appreciate chiming in, like i said in the earlier post i like this stay and wanna keep it!\r\n

But if you guys keep ordering, I will definitely keep building. Jhonny P, Im glad you posted in here. gives us a reminder that most of us are justl riders trying to keep our bikes on the lot.\r\n

so i just got a johnny p stunt stay for my 03 636 and realized its useless because both of my top headlight tabs are broken and thats where it mounts to...didnt know they were broken previous owner mustve done it.

instead of having to sell the stay and get something else, or buy a new headlight, i wanted to try to repair the one i got since its fresh other than the tabs and i actually like the johnny p alot (and got it cheap).

before i go out and buy the shit and waste my time attempting this, i figured id run it by you guys to see if you think its worth the try, or if it sounds like it could work...too many of my good "ideas" tend to turn into fucked up wastes of time and $ lol.

idea: instead of epoxying or gluing the tabs back on, which didnt work for shit cause the prev. owner tried it, i figured id think of an alternative that could possibly make it even stronger than normal.

heres what the top of the headlight would look like:


i was thinking i could leave the tabs off and buy some sheet metal and cut a peice long enough to fit across the top of the light...somehow mount the sheet metal to the top of the headlight plastic, i would assume with some self tapping sheet metal screws....then mark where each tab was and make some little 90 degree metal tabs, and then screw them into the "new" headlight surface which would be metal, drill a hole in the tab and bolt it up to the stay...then add a bunch of extra screws where it needed them to keep it tight and strong.


think this would work? seems like it should do the trick, only thing i wouldnt be too sure of is if the sheet metal screws would hold in the top of the headlight plastic?
