Sell the gas gas and hit the electric circut. I just bought myself a Traxxas Summit about 2 months ago. The thing is badass. Not the fastest with its stock nickle batteries but im upgrading to Lipo's and eventually to a brushless engine and that bitch will do 40 mph wheelies. Not to mention totally water proof. Just yesterday i was swimming around in a mud hole with it. Coolest R/C car ive ever owned or drove.
Sell the Nitro and get a Summit. You can drive the summit through anything. Look into them.

If I ever get the thing running I might but right now its worth crap as a paper weight

you've gotta get the factory start settings on that motor. most of the time the high speed and low speed needles are flush with the outer housing they're in. it could be your idle screw isnt set keeping it from staying running. honestly if you dont have time to learn how to tune then that thing is gonna be as good as a paperweight lol cause tuning is gonna be an everyday thing.
