The Intel HD graphics (integrated) cant handle the demand of my software.(Tech support pointed that out to me when my squidness thought the editor was the reason for all my problems)

Plus Laptops aren't really #1 choice for video editing programs to be used on.

macbook pro or a higher end asus work great

I love my mac! I'll never go back to PC! I just need to update the operating system and a few things to bring her up to date. but I'm not exactly a techie haha!

Get a mac! they're user friendly. the transfer is easy. don't let never touching a mac stop you from lookin at em. lol

i just built my friend a computer for his graphic designing.
went with AMD to save him some money but ended up costing him around 1600$

AMD Phenom II X6 black edition
8GB DDR3 1600
OCZ RevoDrive X2 SSD with 160GB and a read/write speed over 600MB/s
EVGA GeForce GTX 570

its nice to be able to open a 4gb picture in just a few seconds

We're talking $ tho.

you should see what my next build will be. ive got a machine priced out right now thats just under 8000$ for just the tower, still need monitors and the like.
only problem is by next year ill have to redesign it because of new technology.

i recommend ASUS to anyone wanting a compute without building their own.
ASUS by far is the best ive seen. you pay for the product and not the name, and they dont pile in all the useless shit

My thoughts:
i7 processor minimum of 1.06ghz
6GB system RAM
Dedicated graphics card(Not integrated) I think Im looking for a ATI or NVIDIA with 256mb of ram or higher?
DirectX 9 or 10 compatible graphics and sound

These are actually system requirements for the editor I want(AVID) but I dont really know much about differences between hardware parts.

Wrong forum website yes, but maybe there are some killer computer geeks on here I am unaware of ??

What are you building the computer for? Gaming I'm assuming?
