\r\n \r\n the only way a dealer is supposed to stamp a frame is if you purchased a new frame from them and you have the title for the frame you are replacing , having your buddy stamp a frame is a felony in the usa\r\n

\r\n \r\n I think if you can prove its your bike.. pics, police report, lojack info, ect and take the bike the dmv, they will rivet a new vin plate to the frame. Thats how it is done here in Utah.\r\n

Just doesnt make sense to me, to be rolling around with ground down numbers. Even with documentation that just looks bad at first glance, and I could see that causing problems with police.
\n
\nA guy I ride with has a 636 with the numbers stamped on the wrong side, the person that did it started on the correct side and messed up. So they just started again on the other side...Cops have seen it, and there is no problems...At least there is a VIN on it....
\n
\nCheck what the laws are in your state, and go about having it re VIN\'d the legal way...They have to have some kind of solution for someone in your situation, as I cannot believe they would just want you to leave it groudn down....At the least they have to give you somethiing to put back on there...\r\n
