\r\n \r\n Keep all the police paperwork with you from when it was stolen.\r\n

\r\n \r\n find someone who can cleanly restamp your vins and call it a day...if your too scared to go that route..buy a new frame or go thru the long ass process of having the state redo it for you.\r\n

\nI would keep any paperwork you got from the police when they brought you the bike back with you at all times. There should be something documented about the numbers being ground off.\r\n

Alot of other companies started using laser etching for their numbers (Yamaha), but Kawi still uses stamps. So if you take your time you can re stamp and have it look just like stock...Make the area nice and smooth, take your time with the stamping, and hit it up with some black spray paint after...\r\n

\r\n \r\n tampering with a vin is a felony dont stamp it, take it and your paper work to the dmv and they will issue you a sticker or a tag to identify the frame as yours ..\r\n

That depends where you live brother... I hear the stories about FL, but that doesnt happen where I live. Bikes get stamped all the time here, at dealers or little bikes shops.
\n
\nJust like how everyone in FL says your motor # is on file, that is only in some places...Someone I know just got busted, the cops searched his garage, and took a frame with the numbers ground down, and a motor with the numbers still on it...Cops called him a few weeks late to pick up his motor, because we dont have those #\'s on file anywhere there was no way to prove it was stolen or not and he got it back...The frame because it was ground down, there is no way to prove it was his, but there was also no way to prove it was stolen so they kept it but no charges...So yeah it depends where you live
\n
\nSo personally where Im from its much better to have a restamp, then a ground down VIN\r\n
