\r\n \r\n I have a buddy that had a pretty gnarly dirtbike wreck and had to have enough transfusions that be the day after the wreck, he essentially had none of his own blood in his body. I later told him it was like he got his oil changed\r\n

\r\n \r\n People and religions that look at blood transfusions as a "sin" are perfect example of over analyzing the writings in the bible.
\n
\nThe bible is not referring to blood transfusions at all, but to eating or drinking blood\r\n

\r\n \r\n I think blood transfusions are a good thing. If you\'re against being kept alive when "it\'s your time to go" then you should have DO NOT RESUSCITATE" tattoo\'d onto your chest (my grandmother did) so that there is absolutely NO QUESTION about whether there is a DNR or not.
\n
\nIt\'s kind of ironic that people can be against keeping alive via blood transfusions, but they usually aren\'t against simple things such as CPR, Heimlich maneuvers, prescription antibiotics, vaccinations, and other simple yet life saving procedures. Those things all work together to keep people alive, and they\'re amazing steps in medicine that allow lives to be greatly lengthened. They\'ve gone to great lengths to increase life spans of humans...so why not keep them? It\'s the reasons most of us have lived past the ripe old age of 21 or so.

\nI believe that blood transfusions are great, and if you want to live then by all means you should be allowed to them. My friend was getting a burn cleaned out after a bad accident, and it was bad and deep enough that while cleaning it they nicked an artery. By the time he got someone to look at it (he was in a hospital bed and couldn\'t move to look for himself) he\'d lost over 3 pints of blood. A transfusion saved his life from one little mistake.\r\n
