As stated above it's just two names for the same thing.
There are two styles however: rotary (GPR, Scotts, etc) and linear / piston (Ohlins, Hyperpro, etc).
Both work well and will help prevent tank slappers. It is said that the rotary work a little better in a turn and linear a little better going straight.
Real stoppie killers tend to prefer linear piston style as they say there can be a little bit of play in some rotary types.
Linear piston type are more likely to get damaged in a crash.
