Not sure what anyone else uses but I'm a big miller fan and I currently use an STL150 which is a DC machine only that runs on both 120V and 220V. It's a great machine and a kit costs around $1600. If you have the extra cash a great choice would be the miller dynasty 200 which is about $3000 for the kit but it welds in both AC/DC which means you can weld carbon, stainless and aluminum. It also can run on 120 or 220v, both these machines work with tig and arc(stick) welding.
