The airbox I ran as a trial. I put a stage one heat wrapped airbox on my Kawi as I was trying to get it to run cooler. I live in Atlanta GA where in the summer its 96 degrees w 78-85% humidity (110Degrees on average) My kawi was running 220 in 5min of starting to ride and would hit 230 degrees + in less than 5 more min so I was constantly riding around the lot to cool it down with the stock fan wired on 24/7. So I started doing some research and found a few options. The airbox being 1, Motul MoCool water treatment was 2, ceramic coating my headers inside and out was 3, Dual fans on all the time was 4. In that order.
The P&P stage 1 airbox and MoCool had me running temps of 220-225 for about 15min of riding so I knew they helped but once the heat sink set in, it was over. So I did the headers inside and out next and the temps dropped to about 215-225 but again it wasnt enough. The DCP Rad support w dual fan mod did the trick and now in the dead of summer heat my bike wont break 192 degrees. I never have to shut it off or ride it around to cool it off. The airbox mod works, when used with all the other mods it really works. I believe Each mod Ive done is as important as the other. My bike has a crisp throttle and pulls like a freight train now ALL of the time. Especially when its up to operating temp.
Yes I ride for Motul and yes I now ride for P&P so of course I will promote their products. But This mod Matt has come up with is very similar to my airbox and as long as the heat doesnt transfer through it, its a cost effective mod that will work
