Colder Airbox Mod - ADBZ Matt - 11-04-2011 So ive seen the threads about keeping the engine heat out of your airbox, so i tried a do it yourself method... After I installed this it took 5 minutes of the bike idling to even register a temp on the guage, which may be normal but I swear it was a lot quicker before... Havent got to ride it like this yet, but I am ready for the hot summers here in ATL now for sure... Just bought the DCP Rad Cage and put the second fan on the bike, Have header wrap, and now this, and a little engine ice coolant... ![]() Here are the pics of my DIY colder airbox mod... roll of metal HVAC tape and went to town on the airbox... I have about 4-5 layers over the whole thing... ![]() ![]() ![]()
Colder Airbox Mod - Ethiopian - 11-04-2011 wheres the foam insulation? Colder Airbox Mod - beardo - 11-04-2011 subscribe Colder Airbox Mod - ADBZ Matt - 11-04-2011 didnt add any at this point... I wanna test it with just the metal wrap, and if it needs more I can buy the foam/ metal tape from the HVAC store as well. soIi can add it afterwards, however when I was in HVAC School we didnt use the foam stuff very much and found that the tape was very effective... Not sure if I will need anything else tho with all the cooling mods ive done to her... Colder Airbox Mod - J Blox - 11-04-2011 i just stuff dry ice in my airbox Colder Airbox Mod - ADBZ Matt - 11-04-2011 If by airbox you mean your Asshole... then me too...
Colder Airbox Mod - J Blox - 11-04-2011 ....wait...what?? in..your..what?? Colder Airbox Mod - MiNi GuineA - 11-04-2011 dry ice = PENIS Airbox = canyon Colder Airbox Mod - ROWDY - 11-04-2011 It works guys, believe me on this. And Good job Matt , it looks very similar to mine that is done by Performance & Perfection http://www.performanceandperfection.com out of Colorado. Ive ran mine all season in this brutal Georgia heat and my 636 NEVER breaks 192 on the gauge. I never shut it off unless Im getting off of it. I just leave it idling in neutral. Granted I have several other mods to my cooling system, but this is a big one I believe.
Colder Airbox Mod - *MeatballStunts* - 11-04-2011 hmmm if this really works i guess it wouldnt hurt to do over the winter. |
