09 zx6r Stunt Bike Build - DeNoZZo - 10-20-2012 My goal is to make this bitch as strong as possible and do things right the first time, because it will probably be dropped a lot... Here's my plans -Guesseting the frame with 5/8" thick plate -Gusseting the subframe tabs, and rearset tabs with 5/8" plate -Bracing the back section of the subframe with 1/8" thick plate -Turning the stock passenger peg assembly into a subcage with 1/8" thick plate (similar to johnyp's design) -Shorten stock front pegs so they don't touch -Making a custom round bar (also similar to johnyp's design) -Flipped stock cliipons -ESD back pegs -RSC -Foot hole in back seat -Dented tank (maybe not right away because I don't have a hb let alone can't do tank tricks) -Not going to be full fairing -Wrapped headers -Impaktech cage -54t rear, 15t front -Key relocation Yes I will be learning idle on this bike, despite it being a bad idea. I used to have a 900rr I was learning on and even had a progress thread on here. I was just starting to learn some fb control but I dropped it enough times and it cracked the motor mount on the casting. Parted her out, So I haven't been in the lot for months. But I really had fun with it and I'm here to stay. I thought on it for a long time but I'm prepared for expensive fixes, boggy idle, fragileness, etc. I've done plenty of research on stunting these bikes so I know what to expect. And I understand they are not a beginner bike. But I've been on this bike for 2 years now and after a ton of street wheelies, a couple trackdays, and a lot of miles, it's what I'm gonna run with. Should be fun for you guys to watch, I'm gonna really expose the weakspots of this bike not sure if that's good or bad for me yet tho haha! Oh yeah I'm documenting the entire build from start to finish on camera. Here's part 1 showing some teardown, and flipping the clipons-09 zx6r Stunt Bike Build - R1wonder - 11-18-2012 Subscribed ! 09 zx6r Stunt Bike Build - Folhart - 11-25-2012 Nice work so far!!! 09 zx6r Stunt Bike Build - Tapper - 11-25-2012 Are you sure the rear wheel won't hit that subcage? Looks close to me. Good work otherwise
09 zx6r Stunt Bike Build - DeNoZZo - 11-25-2012 Haven't checked but I think I'm alright. I doubt I'll be able to run my tire hugger though
09 zx6r Stunt Bike Build - KYD - 11-25-2012 is there any bracing in between the two sheets of aluminum thats welded to the outside of the rear peg mounts? 09 zx6r Stunt Bike Build - DeNoZZo - 11-25-2012 Not sure I know what you mean, but there's nothing between the two aluminum plates. Basically just two boomerang shaped pieces of alum welded to the passenger peg assembly. 09 zx6r Stunt Bike Build - KYD - 11-25-2012 hmm, just seems to me that the "subcage" would still be a little flimsy and still tweak if hit hard on the side without any support in between the welded pieces. the stock cast shit from kawi is weak even if the aluminum sheeting is strong. But i guess time will tell. 09 zx6r Stunt Bike Build - theCOOK - 11-26-2012 You got one cool ass grandpa!
