Besides my technique, what else can I do keep from locking up and crashing in a huge ball of flames? I got some sticky tires already, and I used to be able to roll them no problem on my old r6 a few years back... maybe I'm too old and fat now?

Gradual pressure as you start learning. Got a little excited 2 weeks ago and jammed the brake too hard trying to bring it up quicker and roll further but skidded about 30 ft. got super lucky i was able to save it. Oh and contrary to what it feels, speed is your friend.

Im still learning, most i can do is 30ft, just my

What about suspension wise? Can I dial out some compression or rebound, or maybe add some? And I thought speed kills? LOL

If u have a Brembo front master they are touchy as hell. I have a 2000 R6 with a Nissin front master, and can roll about 100ft in 3rd, not every time though. Talk to bforeman on here. He is a natural stoppie king. He could prolly stoppie a car if he tried, he's that good.

Set up 3 cones, one to start at, one to bring the tire up at and one where you land. Keep trying to go farther with each attempt. This was advice i've gotten from a few people and it does help. Also take some video of yourself so you and others can help see where you need improvement. I'm still far from a good stoppie roller but with some of these guys help we'll both get there!

So what tire is it and what kind of surface at your spot? You could also lower the pressure in the front a little while learning just to help give a little extra contact patch, though lower tire pressure will decrease your distance as you start getting it because the added friction of the contact patch size. So once you get comfortable bump up the pressure little by little to get back to normal PSI. Also make sure you are using your legs and ass to bounce it up and grip the tank with your knees. Take it easy plow 'em for a bit then bring them up higher. And don't try short approaches. That's how I fucked up. I was rolling about 100'(nothing impressive, but still not shitty to me) then tried to show a buddy at the lot who was doing like 200 ft 45-50 mph approaches and only getting the rear up at the very end were it was slingshoting up that its about the throttle in and the bounce/grip to get it there not necessarily the distance to launch it. Did a short like 20-30 ft approach rolled it about the same length then was just to high let off the brake and it was still going over, tried to jump over the front and got smashed into the concrete by the bike. Fun stuff. Like Graveyard said with the cones or even a spot with parking spaces helps, visual things seem to really help a lot of people. Shit man I even used Tennis balls I cut in half as markers.

Very well said. when u were talking about the thottle in and bounce/grip technique were u meaning very quickly letting off the trottle and at the same time as the forks compress hitting front brake? or am i misunderstanding u? i know that when i let off throttle quickly and hit front brake at same time the bike comes up faster cuz it is using the already compressing forks along with the front brake to bring the rear wheel up.

Yup, exactly.

I picked up a Bridgestone Battlax BT016, from my buddy's shop slightly used. He told me it was a good tire, but I dunno, it seems better then the one I started on? What pressure do you think I should be running? Do you think it may be I'm just not use to having the weight of my sub-cage, 12 bar, and etc.. ? I probably just need to practice like you guys are saying. Thanks for all the help

Pilot front tire is a must! . Just keep going at it... Take ur time and learn stoppiez . Cause going over will suck .. U will eventually hit that balance point , to we're u really don't need to be on the breaks tht much . I am hitting the Bp on and off.. But just keep going at it
