![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() :bang headWrong. Watch the last 20 seconds. All he suffered was a broken headlight, fairing stay, broke front brake lines, broke clip ons, and bent front wheel. Trust me if there wasnt a cage on there it wouldve been way worse and woulda been the tank smashing into the ground. Cage was a little bent in but still very usable. Tygershark btw. Total Fail - 762SPR - 09-28-2012 Wow, there's a lot of BAD advice in here. Some good, but lots of bad. First GET A CAGE! I don't know if you already have one or now, but a good cage will keep you from screwing up your motor cases and spilling fluids all over the ground when you go down. It will also protect the sides of your tank a little. Different cages will protect differently, and I don't know about F4 cages. If you're about to roll the bike because of your cage, you're going WAY too fast to be learning good wheelies I think. I highsided the other day at like 10ish mph and only had a few small scuffs on the bike because of the cage. It didn't even think about rolling. As for Pappa Willie himself, as a guy that came from doing pow pows on a dirtbike onto my first street bike with stock gearing, I'll tell you you're not giving it enough gas. It was my biggest problem starting out. Dirtbikes come up like nothing because they're so light. Crank your idle up to like 4-5k, first gear, pull in the clutch, come to almost a full stop, give it some gas and simultaneously dump the clutch. Bring it up, then hit the brake. Add more throttle and dump the clutch harder to get up higher faster, but work your way up. Just keep doing that. Once you get more comfortable you can get it up higher. Once the forks are sticking about straight out, then you're at the balance point and you can try walking them out slowly. Keep them as slow as possible and you'll hopefully keep yourself and your bike from getting screwed up. Check out my first video. I have a feeling you're pretty close to where I was. It's not a "do this" video, but it might encourage you to know that's how I was a few months back, and even despite hardly ever getting to ride, now I've got idle and I'm working on actually DOING stuff during a wheelie. The two major things I was doing wrong: 1. Clutching up while rolling along. Sure you can clutch up while moving, but if you start from as near to a stop as you can get then it's a lot easier to go straight to bp. 2. Not enough juice! Gotta give it more gas, especially with stock gearing to get it up! It's kind of hard to describe a good clutch up, you just have to feel it. You'll be simultaneously twisting on more throttle as you dump the clutch, then as the front comes up, you roll off the throttle a little (or completely, if you can go straight to BP) and you catch yourself with the brake to keep from going back too far. Practice it a lot and it will start to make sense. Hope that helps a little. Now go make some wheelies!
Total Fail - Austin913 - 09-28-2012 imo, that sums up stunting in a nutshell. Total Fail - broham - 09-28-2012 yes! Total Fail - J Blox - 09-28-2012 Get off the computer and go do a wheelie. Total Fail - f4owler600 - 09-29-2012 good info here. such a sick stunt spot in the video btw Total Fail - lee majors - 09-30-2012 get -1/+3 sprockets. it helps when your learning. Total Fail - onasty - 10-03-2012 Update with all the info. I got it up finally and did it multiple times with ease my only problem is now when i get it up i accidently keep kicking the bike into neutral on the way up. This is too much fun once its up, I just have to invest in a cage now. Gotta find a good one that doesnt make the bike look like a streetfighter not really into that look.
