\r\n \r\n Personally, I\'d never have a dog (any dog, let alone one that large) around small children, unless I\'d had it from a puppy on. There\'s no way. You said she snips at smaller dogs....? Who\'s to say she won\'t "snip" at your 2 year old for pulling her ear or something?

\nIf you\'re looking for a large dog for your children to grow up with, I urge you to look into getting a boxer, or at least find a breeder with GD puppies from a good blood line.\r\n

this is what i did with my lil pit puppy. that way you can train them and establish dominance early. it also helps when they are small to be introduced to the kids, that way for a while they see that the kids are bigger and respect them more(even though this will change)\r\n

\r\n \r\n yea i figure you guys make good points...just got excited when i found a harlequin, the owner of her now also has 2 small children....one is 3 the other is 7, but its not worth putting my children in harms way....no offense taken. i may still go check her out but im guessing at this point i won\'t end up with her.....thanks for the info guys* and gal*\r\n

\r\n \r\n I have 2 a female and a male, both mantles. I can go on and on for pages about info, history, care, $, obedience, etc. There like my children. Lol. I studied up and did research for quite sometime about the breed before getting mine. My female is 7 and my male is 5 and I\'ve been through a multitude of things with them having raised them both since they were 8 weeks old.

\nSo basically anything and everything you\'d like to know I can help you out, just pm me with any questions or concerns and ill hit you back with my #. I would be more than glad to help. Danes have always been a passion of mine and I\'m always more than happy to help out anyone needing any advice with them. Just lmk\r\n

\r\n \r\n Oh and as far as worrying about the animals size or age. Go and feel her out if she\'s like most danes she should be very cautous around children and most likely would never be an issue with kids. I don\'t know the particular Dane in question, Ibut mine as well as th others I know are all very gentle around children and know there place. All though as with any breed it has to do with how there raised, but there not known as gentle giants for nothing.
\nI know as for mine your children would have a higher chance getting hurt by a shitzu or a territorial cat. Lol\r\n

\nbut in my opinion unless thats a dog you know a lot about and really want it get something from a puppy and have long lives and dont cost a lot
\nu dont wanna see a "member" of your family die every 8 years when u can have another dog live close to double that .. just saying

\r\n \r\n big dogs are cool but remember, they have shorter life spans. we have 2 11 year olds & a 3 year old chihuahuas. If I can get an acre at my next house like I hope to I want an irish wolf hound! Heres my daughter with one a couple years ago.\r\n
