i didint relieze that it pays 100%, i was told there was a certin amount per year they would cover but if you go to school in your state they would cover more and get a dicount from the school. i also heard the the new gi bill will cover tech schools as of october of this year. and not all the guards are bad. i was thinking the same thing but im in the 3/172nd in vermont which is the mountain battalion where the ARMY MOUNTAIN WARFARE SCHOOL is so we get alot of good perks being there. but the rest of the state is what you would expect from the guards.

yeah i came from 1st ranger battalion 75th while active to ks national guard...culture shock. there are a few squared away people though. i think the way it works is most states are 100% tuition for 12 hours a semester, anything over that and you pay.

i'm in the almost EXACT same boat at you, only difference is im in the reserves 12B.

I dont know why everyone is so scared of the IRR and wanna finish out their time lookin retarded in the guard. Its a scare tactic that apparently works on some. Noone is gonna get called back so fuck em and be free!

not true my friend, not true. for Airborne Combat Engineers the call back rate was over 50%, i personally knew 5 or 6 people that got out, were on IRR and got called right back in. to tell with that, if i'm getting called back i'm going on my terms and with a bonus. i got 10k, signed for 36 months with 24 month stabilization. ironicly enough my reserve unit (689th En. Co) out of Orlando is getting deployed in September, i do not have to go. smart choice all around on my part.

I am in the reserves right now. Not a bad gig at all. Currently going through school so it is a win win for me. Thinking about going active after graduation or OCS. Thoughts?

No need to go active anymore. You've missed all the fun and being active would just be a joy kill. Being in garrison sucks! Stay in the reserves if you enjoy it.

cant go to OCS unless you have at least a bachelors its hard for resevists to go active anymore also, not sure why tho. i toyed with the idea of going back active and their claim was something about numbers. who know tho.
