I wanted to keep it stealth and look as moto as possible. I am just getting into the Sumo stunting at 50yo which many of my friends think I have lost my mind, but man is it fun. I am only doing slow wheelies at the moment, but now that this is done I will be working on stoppies and circles, so lets see how this all goes. So here is my 05 YZF450, with a 250 watt stator and R1 cooling fan that is switched. Keeps the temps at 170-200 doing rev limiter burnouts standing still. Had the peg brackets and 12bar fabed by a guy in FL. Then added the Rekluse handbrake. It is titled so I can make it street legal, but I think I am gonna keep it off the streets. I can see way to many tickets in my future should it be street legal!!

Be blessed!!

So Im sure some of you seen me complaints about no one willing to build a cage for my bike and although it may not be a "standard" stunt bike, It is what I own and have parts for so this is what I want to build. Ive thought about buying a new bike and what not but its not im my nature to have something others have. I like being different. I also like building. So here is goes....

The bike is a 2003 Honda VFR800. Weighing in at 470lbs dry its a heavy bike for sure. The frame though is strong (well for now) this is a V4 118hp 62ft-lb torque bike. In regard to what is may look like this bike has a top speed of about 162. Lots of low end torque that falls off in the upper rpm ranges. Probably why this bike is not popular with the young riders. Either way Ive owned 3 different generations and love the bike. So past all this lets get to the good stuff. Im building my own cage. Got the dust knocked off the pipe bender and got the welder set just right and away we go. O wait plus I ordered some DOM tubing. A buddy owns a metal shop so I got 20ft of 1 1/8" .065 wall Dom tubing. Although it could be thicker this is just a first cage. After I get it set and right I will put my measurements into an AutoCAD drawing so I can copy these plans with the 1 1/2" bar at a later date.. I will also be making a sub frame cage for this bike as well. Hopefully this summer I will be doing the 08-11 cbr1000 sub frame swap and can find some already fabed sub cage and tail saver for it
So to start I snapped a photo took the fairings off and did a not so great drawing. Lets just call it a rough draft.

After pulling the fairings off I can see I will have a plate mounted towards the back and one impact tube mounted to the frame. The farthest forward mount will be under the radiator (VFRs have a radiator mounted on each side of the bike not in front.) but will not be connected to the frame. There is no mounting points in the front so I will be running a bar from each side to separate the load across the cages. This may also be a weak point but it may save the bike in the instance of a larger than usual impact.

After playing with some bends and tack welds. This is where I am at so far. After a shortage of argon I have stopped until this weekend. Hopefully I will get some gas (insert bad jokes here) and will get this project finished this coming weekend.

Pretty much gave up on this project in march or so because bike kept running like shit. With things finally getting a little cooler and me wanting to ride again I decided to get back at it.

Anyhow, problem somehow resolved itself and now bike runs good. Not great, but good enough to enjoy.

Still need to rebuild my forks and rebleed front master, but for the most part its done. Here is a shot.

i got a 92 750 w that a buddy of mine gave me for free. last summer i took it appart, (didn't open the motor)made myself a subframe with what i think was a 08 1k gixxer seat and i made a +8" tubular swing arm. I changed the fork seal and everything. powder coated everything exept the tank in a flat translucent black with a chrome base coat and the tank with a cream white. I intended to sell the thing to make a profit but as of right now, after almost 6 months in the classified here in montreal, the bike got close to no attention. so, instead of giving it away, i plan on using the bike to drift this summer. learned how to drift with the f4i last summer but now i'm rly addicted and it would be stupid not to use that one. Basicaly all the job is done. all i have to do now that i decided to use it and not sell it is to make a cage, fit some better clip-ons or db bars and rejet the carbs cause its wayyyyy to lean right now because of the shopped slip on and the pod filters. so there you go folks, here is how it sits right now. oh and yes, i will have to do something about that exhaust because it's sure gonna scrape.

That a 50stunt hb bracket? Same as the 250x?
And you have a idle cable on there or no? Bikes looking sick tho. You gonna run a foot hoop?
It's too bad the stunt pegs mount so low tho they would be way better mounted twards the rear fender IMO.

Yeah its a 50stunt dcb its the same as ryan was using on his 07 yz250f.

No idle cable on these, theres an adjustment knob to raise it but only slightly but theres an option to pull that knob out a little for cold starting and it bumps idle up even more, its not as high as i would like it yet but i was able to idle some circles the other day without a problem. Theres an adjustment for a CO that can be adjusted to help smooth the bike out on initial twist, ill be getting that done as a lot of guys said it really helps the bike all around, i guess they come super lean on idle due to EPA bullshit.

Im deff runnin a footloop with an SS plate like my 250s had. I just gotta figure that part of it out yet.

I like the pegs where they are actually, thats why i used the 50stunt ones, there in same overall spot as the wr250x ones are. im not a big fan of the cheater style of pegs, im sure they do work better but i like having ability to be able to move around a bit more and once i have the footloop and sss plate it should be pretty fuckin sweet.

I havent received a lot of parts yet including my on/off switch and starter control.. so i rigged switches and a push button up based off the wiring diagram.. had me scratching my head last night.. but i spent all day looking over diagram and figured out the clutch in switch was the culprit.. put a paper clip in it and it fired up and ran like a beast.

Waiting on NDC bracket with 600rr footbrake adapter, stunterX cage,DCP rad cage, front brake master, rear wheel, stunterx upper brace, and upper stay... Im running out of money for it but im gonna get brake lines and some other odd and ends and call it good for this season. If learn how to stop yard selling my shit and stop wrecking ill tear it down this winter and make it pretty.
