Is it better doing a power wheelie in 2nd gear or clutching it.

whats up guys what are the advantages to 2nd gear power wheelies as apposed to clutching it?
i can power wheelie my 02 gsxr1k in 2nd and 3rd but i am not courageous enough to clutch it which way is easier/safer if their is a safe way to wheelie?

usually i have to be moving at a good clip to power in 2nd and 3rd and i dont want to have to blaze just to do it!
