Tire Plugs

I got some nails in my rear tire in the lot the other day. I was wondering if anyone uses the rubber tire plugs w/ rubber cement on their tires or do you go the recommended route of patching them from the inside?? I've never heard of these patches before so I wouldn't know how to use them either.

I have used both the mushroom plugs and worm plugs with good results. They should be fine as long as you are not ripping it on the the highway.

I would be careful with burnouts.

Patch the inside... Way more permanent

Plug patches. Best of both worlds all in one. Cheap and ive ran tires down to the cord with no problems

I found a small bolt in my tire last summer. Plugged it and never had any problems. i rode the bike on the highway and did burnouts with said tire. It held pressure no problems up until when there was almost no tread on the tire and cords were about to start showing. But obviously patching it is the best way to do it.

I have 4 plugs in my rear tire right now and has been that way for a while

I've seen plugs shoot out of tires many times... All your doing is stuffing rubber into a hole... They can get ripped out any time... Plug patches are nice but if its a small hole you usually have to ream the hole bigger, so I just patch little holes and plug patch bigger holes.. I work and run a independent Goodyear store so I have all the stuff in the back.

Just to clarify: To patch a tire you remove the tire and apply it to the inside of the tire correct? Would one need a patch made specifically for motorcycles?
