03 636 Water/ Oil Pump HELP!!!

I was searcing around the forum but havent seen a person with this problem....

Hopefully someone can give me a tip/advice on how to fix this issue...

Lately my water/oil pump has been leaking out of the weep hole, thus telling me a seal is failing, i purchased all the seals so that I could just fix the problem.. the problem lies in that one of these bastards will not come out!!!!!! It is stuck into the oil pump body... dont have a clue on how to get it out, spent the better part of an hour trying, and managed to damage the body in the process, so lesson learned on what not to do.....

My problem is that the seal that is listed as part number #49073 will not come out of the oil pump body #16160, I need to remove it to replace the seal behind it..... but cannot for the life of me figure out how............................

As I said I damaged the body so I will have to use my spare motor to rob parts I guess... or order a new one...

My question is, has anyone else ran into this, and if so, how the fuck did you get that seal out to service that seal and also the one behind it???

If I use my "spare" oil pump body, then im still in the predicament of getting that damn seal out... anyone got any ideas...............

Been so long since I changed one I don't remember exactly how I get it out, I do remember it's a bitch.

I think the first time I did one I just poked a bunch of holes in it with a super sharp punch till it basically fell apart, they I plucked it out a piece at a time with needle nose.

I remember using screws to get a seal out of something once, but I don't remember if it was this seal.

I screwed a couple sheet rock screws into the seal and used the screws to pull it out a little at a time going from screw to screw.

I dont have much left to screw into as I already did the first option you mention and damaged the body where the impeller goes through... ... guess I will be more careful with my spare pump body....

Any tips on pressing the new one in??? Fit a socket the same size and gently hammer it in???

Pretty sure I used a socket.

Maybe a little heat might help get the other one out easier.

Well, finally got that seal out of my "spare" water/oil pump...

Delicately installed the oil leak behind it and then reinstalled the mechanically seal delicately as well.... and after I buttoned everything back up, added coolant back into the radiator.. not 10 seconds later its pooring out of the weep hole... all new seals in the pump, reinstalled everything as it came out.. should have been good to go...

Any ideas????

Glad I didnt put the 40 bucks worth of oil in it yet just too lose and contaminate that.....

Only other thing I can think of would be the shaft is worn were the seal hits it, or you cracked the housing.

jake iv never done this but iv done similiar jobs at work. i take it your problem was when you pulled the oil pump body#16160 off your bike, seal number 49063 is still pressed inside the oil pump body? if so can you send me some pics on here or email. maybe i can right up a thread on how to build a cheap ass tool to remove the seals if anyone else has to do this so they dont ruin the pump body
