Does JB weld on an oil pan hold up?

Have two little cracks by the drain plug bolt about an inch long. Was gonna clean it up real well and then JB weld it.
Just seeing if anyone else has done this before and curious to see how strong it is on the pan.

done on my car 3 y ago and it it holds,and jb still there. btw just sand it with sand paper before jb

Are either, or both of the crackss running up to ,or into the threads ?
If so it probably won't work just because the crack will most likely spread open when you tighten the plug. Unless your real carefull, and or real lucky.

one of my buddies jb welded a hole about the size of a dime in his clutch cover and he is still riding it 2 years later.

not sure what kind of bike your running but my buddy might have an extra oil pan off an f4i!

i have jb welded an oil pan and it worked for years and then i had one that the drain plug got ripped out of loading it into a truck so i jb welded it back together and put some jb weld on the crush washer and just threaded the drain bolt in hand tight till i could get another oil pan ..

I've Jb welded clutch covers,stator covers,engine cases,oil pans etc etc...you can do it you just have to put some effort into it so it wont leak...

remove the oil pan locate all your cracks...some can be so small you cant see them but will still leak...

now spray everything down with brake clean..get ALL the oil and grime off inside and out.
..let it dry then take some ruff sand paper and scuff up the area of the crack very well so that the jb weld has something to grab onto plus it will help show cracks..if you skip the brake cleaner and sanding you can almost garentee it will leak....

give it one last spray with brake cleaner to get any oil or finger prints off..there cannot be any kind of oil residue or it could leak.. and put your jb on,press it into the cracks and into the area you scuffed up well...let it set up some more and push some more and smooth it over with your finger....If done right it shouldnt leak!


CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN it...every bit of oil residue needs to be gone,and SCUFF SCUFF SCUFF it with a gritty sand paper.the smooth polished surface of the oil pan and or other cases or covers doesnt give anything for it to grab on to..

i jb welded a side case behind the stator cover on my 929 that was literally SHATTERED into 50 pieces and still missing chunks..i put it together like a puzzle and used cardboard with jb weld layered on top for the voids....it was that or not ride for the rest of summer..lol..

You know your an old school stunter when you manufacture pieces of your bike from JB weld....

One time i dropped my bike hard with no cage..and busted a chunk out of my engine case where one of the bolts for the stator threaded in....you could stick your thumb into my engine....and guess what kept me riding...JB weld...

man i wish i had taken pictures of a friends bike , that kids motor had more jb weld holding it together it wasnt even funny , he had an fi cage so he was good at jb welding shit back together ...lol

Thanks guys. I'm gonna take it off and scuff it up .....jb weld the inside as well since it is right by the threads. I'll let ya know if it holds up haha.
