How are you making the image? do you have one of those sensors that plots a location and makes a digital version and you touch the bike all over?

or are you measuring parts or what?

Nah nothing that complex. I use a digital camera (Any camera works) and then just take photos of the bike. Side view etc.
After that I use it as reference and eyeball it when modeling. Not 100% accurate but close enough to get an idea.
When I did model a few cars for Forza 3 they actually did what you said. Except they took tape, and made a wireframe on the real car with tape, and scanned that data to create a 100% accurate 3D model.

Well what I am doing this for is to be able to customize it in any way i want, and will see what it would look like. Any colors, mods, etc?
Also, I plan on modeling all of the fairings later on and unwrap those, which means that I will be able to draw anything on them, and it will be visible on my model, will allow me to make renders of different wraps with reflections etc, just not the cost of the real wrap. Somewhat an idea of how it would look.
