Slow Wheelies - Where to start?
#1
Hey guys. I have looked around and read posts about how to wheelie and such. I have looked on other forums as well but I have my own question.

What is the best way to learn how to get my bike to balance point? Is it to go about 15mph and throw it up? Or roll about 5 and try? I was out attempting the second choice and ended up almost flipping my bike. But I believe the reason for that was also that I was attempting at a standing position and I think I slipped off of the rear peg. Even though it's a stunt bike and has the cage and stuff, I don't believe that should be an excuse for me to treat it like shit and let it flip on me.

Also I have a 60tooth sprocket on the rear, not sure about the front. I purchased the bike from a previous owner who already stunted it out.

Also today was pretty much my first day trying to wheelie on my 600rr. I use to learn how to do is on my gsxr 1000 but now I am letting that be bike for going fast and purchased the 600 specifically to learn how to stunt on.

start from a dead stop and pop...goin 15mph is too fast, especially with learning IMO..you'll get a shit load of respones between tonight and tomorrow...just try different things out, you'll get it buddy, just keep at it....SEAT TIME

Big Ben- if I understand you correctly, you mean lift it up while sitting, and then stand up?

Also, I use to get pretty decent on my 1000. Here is a video of me learning how to wheelie with about 4 days of practice.

YouTube- RedStar Wheelie Practice
The problem was, I wanted way too much to soon, I wanted to learn how to do 2nd gear, practiced it about 3 times and then hit the hwy. I was going about 65 or so, then what I really fucked up on was I sat all the way back, reved the shit out of it, and then pulled like crazy on it and when it came up, it sped up like crazy and the bike flipped going about 85.
So now I am at a reset with the stunt bike. I am slowly finding my balls again to give it some nice rev and hold it there. I guess its like ruthless said, all it takes is seat time.

Thanks for the quick responses guys, I am really glad you are supportive and not saying things like "Keep both wheels on the group squid", its great to be apart of a community where we all share one goal lol.

learn coasters, pop up in the top of first gear, get high and pull the clutch in to bring you back down.

What does that mean? I apologize for my noobyness,
Does that mean throttle harder that way it lands softly?

Also, would a 12 bar help a lot when learning?
