title: one bad apple!
best: 9-10, 12
9 I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. 10 Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world.12 For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside?
he is very clear who is being talked about here and its not the world, its us believers...we have to live in this world and we cannot change that, but we do have the power to change and regulate our own body. (the church)
challenge: 5, 11,13
5 deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.[b]
11 But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortionernot even to eat with such a person.
13 But those who are outside God judges. Therefore put away from yourselves the evil person.[d]
this is always going to be a hard thing to do in my mind.....i mean its talking about ppl that are brothers and sisters or even sons and daughters, hard to cast someone aside for the destuction of thier flesh, even tho it might be that desruction that is required in order for that person to repent and thier soul be saved....hard thing to do....
summary:
it is not our place to judge thoes who are outsidethe church. We as believers and part of the body of Christ are required to keep eachother accountable, (i.e. judge one another) b/c if imorality and sin are allowed to continue unchecked it will corrupt the entire body, just as one bad apple will spoil the whole bunch. there will always be sin in this world, but we as believers are to be sanctified and it is our duty to keep eachother accountable to what is right and true!!
