Is 100 bucks a really good deal? i have a friend whos uncle powder coats and i asked my friend if his uncle would do my frame for 100. Am i being skeet or that just an average good deal. I know its gotta be typically more than that but dont know by how much. also his uncle had asked what color, because that affects the cost, so Im spose to pick the color out of a book, but havent gotten it. you think gold will be expensive? i want either gold, black, or white

Local company here charges $140 regardless of color, unless it is special order. But they have about 50 colors or so that they stock

Thats it? wow thats cheap!

Does that include the prep work? Mine would need sand blasting.

That's a pretty good deal if that includes two stage coats..

i was told that the heat can warp/weaken your frame from several people.

I think that is all old wise-tails...I have had two bikes now that have been powdercoated and haven't had the first problem. 100 is a decent price depending on if it is a candy etc etc

400 degrees to Aluminum isn't shit. Which is the typical baking temp for powdercoat. If anything, the heat will harden the aluminum more.

Annealing Annealing should be done at 775 F for 2 to 3 hours followed by controlled cooling at 50 f per hour down to 500 F, then air cool.

That's what it takes to soften aluminum to make it workable for forming.

Aging The aging precipitation heat treatment is done at 350 F for 8 hours followed by air cooling. This produces the T6 temper.

This is how they get aluminum to be T6. Basicly it hardens the aluminum to a specific grade or temper.

an hour in the powdercoat oven is not gona do that. It really shouldn't have any effect on the aluminum once it's cooled.

But that's a damn good price for a frame. I got a quote for a bandit frame, 2 stage color, $200 with the foot control plates.

I would charge 2-250 to blast, prep, and coat a frame.
So 100 is a good deal as long as the guy knows what he is doing.

my frame is steel so i wont have to worry about it.

Also, do i have to sand it all down to bare metal? or is ok that some of the OEM silver is still on there?
