This thread is about the tear down & rebuild of the motor from my 89 lx that I'm swapping into my '66 FORD FAIRLANE

The donor is a 89 lx with 115k. I knew it would need some cleaning, refurbishing so I did a comp test a couple weeks ago and got great results in all 8 cyls (135psi+) and the AOD was rebuilt 3k ago so I decided just to freshen up the motor instead of a complete rebuild. I am also adding GT40p heads(explorer heads),explorer upper/lower intakes as well as a trick flow cam/springs.




















We'll see how tomorrow pans out and try to get paint & some assembly done!

ya I hear ya, there's one on ebay for $30. I'm not running an egr so if anything I'll do a billet spacer & wire the resistor in to trick the ecu into thinking the egr is active.

fyi-you have to swap the linkages from the mustang to the explorer TB.
to trick the ecu about the missing egr you can run a hose clamp (or anything) that will hold the pin that sticks out of the sensor in. if you disconnect the 3 9mm bolts that hold the sensor to the housing you'll see what I mean

ya I swaped the stuff on my last 5.0
it had a 390 then a 428.
Got some work done today...



















Had to drill out front cover for dipstick & still need to dowel tho old hole dip hole in the block

good shit though man. good to see you doing work!

I got friends that have all the time in the world and they dont have any projects going. I feel you though. I dont start working on the cormino till 10 at night sometimes and work on it until whatever it is, is finished. I hate stopping during the middle of something.

How much longer till shes all put together and going?
