How much did a 50 help you learn?
#1
Hey guys what up......just a little bullshit thread here I want to hit the lots next summer hard and I'm gonna be picking up a crf50 this week. Just kinda curious about how much the 50 actually helps most people prepare for a big bike. Also what skills and stunts transfer over to a bigbike.......pretty much what should i be throwing down on this beast to get ready for the lot. I can roll stoppies all day but my Rear brake needs serious work (especially working the clutch and HB). Getting better brake control is what im getting it for ....its gonna be a lot cheaper when i loop the 50 i figured. But yah thanks for any advice in advanced.....feel free to preach your story on how it was transferring 50 skills to the 600

OHHH and a side note........can someone show me a pic of the bracket needed to have both a HB and foot brake on the 50. If anyone has stunt pegs and a HB set up for sale I will buy it from ya.

well, i already learned balance point on a big bike, then rode a 50, i picked up pretty fast and i only used HB on it, i did a ton of combos and stuff , never got to huge into O's but i could em ok.

so as far as actually wheeling i didnt notice much, the thing wheelies itself, i thought the one thing that it did help was combos, such as jumping from sitdown to SS, the first time i tried it on a big bike it was cake, and other little shit like stagger to ss or anything like that, i just think i knew how the bike would react a little better.

I used the quad to learn footbrake, and balance point.
Then jumped on a 50 which has no power, so it increases your need to hit balance point along with the side to side balance as well.
I wouldnt be where I am on my bike if I didnt learn circles on my 50.

Here is an old ass clip from my cell phone a couple years ago on the 50 I used to have.
You can see the 12 bar that I have for ya on it, it looks big, but half of the rear fender is missing also. lol.

I never had my own 50. just borrowed my buddies whenever I could. it definitely helped me with brake control and BP. then I got an f4i and never really thought about riding a 50 again.

Helped a ton with learning BP and rear brake control. Was scraping on the big bike after the 3rd night of practice.
