VERY strange screeching noise coming from F4i motor.. Ideas?

so anyway, I finally solved this mystery. I was seriously considering splitting the case to check out the tranny bearings, but I couldn't recreate the noise. Yesterday I took the sprocket cover off to take a look and didn't find anything obviously wrong. I left the sprocket cover off and the noise wouldn't come back. Can't believe I missed this..
