Ok so I've been smoking since I was 14 (smoked first when I was 13, but just a couple cigs so), I'll be 23 in mid-December. I did quit for a year and a half cold turkey, but shit happened and yeah. Anyway, for the last couple of years I've been averaging about 7 cartons of Newports a month. When I'm out of work, or short on cash, obviously it's a bit less. But on average. Earlier in the year a buddy of mine got this thing he referred to as "like a portable hookah", got me interested, so for the last few months I've been "vaping" on and off. Have tried to quit smoking many other times, to no avail. I've mostly been using this stuff to smoke indoors or in cars with, and continued to smoke my beloved Newports. But now that I've gotten a somewhat decent tank, and found a local shop that doesn't rob people, I think I may have a decent shot. Not just cause it's still nicotine blah blah, but because the more I've looked into it, the more I see can be done. It's a hobby for a lot of people, getting different mods and parts and such and building their setups. I got this setup a few days ago, and I've already cut back tremendously on cigarettes. Even being without a job, usually I couldn't help but smoke even if it broke me. But I haven't bought a pack of cigarettes in almost a week. I have bummed a good bit off friends though.
Just wondering if anyone else here "vapes" (apparently that's what the cool kids call it), and if so what kind of setups you have, your experiences etc.
As for me, I started with the Blu wanna-be cigarette looking things. They're total shit, waste of money. Got a disposable that was supposed to last as long as two packs or something. Lasted me 3 hours playing xbox. Here's my experiences:
So far I've only used one type of battery, Ego-Twist. I keep the voltage turned all the way up, the life of it is pretty good. Mine is supposedly rated for 12 hours. But some days I'll kill it faster, some days I won't have to charge it, just depends.

Tanks
Cheap bullshit, don't know the name: I had a lot of trouble with this one after about a week. I didn't drop it or anything, but it kept leaking fluid if it was laid on it's side. I started keeping it upright, but one night I fell asleep and when I woke up there was a wet circle around the whole tank, where it'd all leaked out over night. Also had problems with what I have been referring to as "backfire", where the fluid comes up with the vapor into your mouth. Not a good taste, makes your tongue go kind of numb, and if it's hot it'll burn like hot coffee. Not good. Looked like the picture below, but the wicks weren't braided/twisted, just seemed like a cheaper quality.

Evod: This one wasn't as bad as the first. Was better quality, and I liked the fact that the wick was in the bottom. That way I didn't have to worry about rolling the fluid around when it got low. The wick was very short, I would imagine because it's in the bottom and doesn't need to extend down. Basically had two thin, very small wicks coming out of each side of it's connecting piece (cartomizer I think it's called?). I bought the tank and two extra wicks. First wick lasted about a day or so, then it started backfiring on me. When I was in the shop, I overheard a customer complaining of the same thing, and the employee said it happens when the wick goes bad. So I was like shit, they told me it'd last a week. I changed the wick, but the next day same shit. Put my last wick in, and within two hours it was backfiring. Got pissed because I had to wait till the weekend to drive an hour back to Mobile (was coming back for the weekend anyway) to bitch at the shop. Got there, told them the whole story, and apparently the wicks have different ohm ratings. The tanks come with like 1.6 or 1.8ohm wicks, and they gave me some 2.4ohm wicks on the second trip. Those lasted a bit longer, but after a couple of weeks it was backfiring pretty bad. I had one bottle of fluid, Sweet Tarts, that wouldn't backfire. It had a higher vg/pg ratio, therefore was thicker, so I assume that's why it didn't backfire. Put a brand new wick in, and it was backfiring before I got out of the parking lot. I don't know exactly what happened with that tank, I got pissed off, broke it (and the battery), and threw em in the trash in a tattoo shop an hour away.

V-Core 2.0: So far this one is the best. I burnt out the original wick before my battery died, but no backfire. I think that's due to the fact that it's a top wick system, and it's got a second chamber on top that doesn't hold fluid. So there isn't just a direct tube between the mouthpiece and the wick. Also, it has four wicks that hang down, and all collect into one at the heat point. I assume more wicks=more fluid=more vapor/flavor. Went to the shop, got some 2.8 rated wicks the next day (Saturday, it's Wednesday morning now). Haven't had a problem since. I knew the wick was bad because I just kept getting this bad burnt taste. Took a look and it looked pretty bad. I got a "refurbished" battery, and it took it upon itself to activate and just burn while I wasn't using it/paying attention a few times. Now I know why it got traded in or whatever. I've gotten more vapor and flavor using this tank than the other two, so I'm liking it so far.
