I dropped mine kinda hard on the right side and had to replace starter cover... I don't know man I kinda thought vacuum or something too but it's def a weird noise

make sure the coils are all pushed in and good..... check seals all around the motor and gaskets sounds like the motor is sucking in air

Update- I think I've got it figured out, we isolated the sound to the stator cover. We tested the stator and found out it wasn't putting out as much as it should, and that it was shorted out. After pulling off the cover we could see it was all burned up on some of the coils. Anyone know if I should fork over $300 for a new oem stator, or if there's a good aftermarket anywhere?

Yep stator took a poop on ya. Go oem. Ive used the ricks stators and they are garbage

You can find oem stators brand new for 200. Buy that over a ricks.

Where? The lowest I've found online was $219. I would happily spend the extra over a ricks and get an oem
