Whats everyones feelings on STREETS now?
#1
Figured I would start a thread and see how people feel about streets now and what not. I personally feel that all big street rides are now going to be dead and the police are not going to be playing games anymore. Whats everyone elses thoughts on streets and big rides? Not only do I think they are done but I personally feel that more people in cars/ trucks are going to take matters into their own hands if they get fed up with us stopping on highways and slowing way down to 20-30 on highways. Whats everyone elses thoughts?

I think street riding completely undermines competition riding to the general public. Having said that. Streets are fun and will always be. The new york deal would have played out differently here in Texas. A lot of riders and drivers carry here.

Exactly... In Utah, I'd bet 75% of people on rides here carry....I carry the green to keep everyone calm... so I don't pack the heat

And as far as rides, Mass rides aren't my thing besides the HalloWheelie Ride. But I have been getting nothing but stressed calls from everyone else involved. I don't think much will change but who knows. This shit effects us riders quite a bit but a bunch of my friends(some of who ride) didn't even know what I was talking about when I asked their opinion. All depends on if you are a news nut or not I guess. And how you feel about motorcycles in general. I love riding the streets though so hopefully its had its 15 minutes and just gets dealt with by the courts properly. I honestly hope Rover driver gets some kind of charges too though. This BS about his life being in danger is a joke... He didn't even lock his doors. But that's for another thread...

I agree with klassik about street riding undermining competitions and lot riding but there is something about streets that you will never get from riding lots in my opinion. I'm just embracing the fact that now more than ever you have to run.

I really don't think it's going to matter for me streets or lots. Because the media marked people like us "gang members". So if are official classified as such in most cities that gives cops/hitler the right to investigate you for no other reason. So that being said keep on riding they're gonna fuck with you anyway.

1) don't display your plate
2) don't stop
3) don't take off your helmet

I ride streets here but i think i'm gonna stick to back roads and lots for a while. a lot of people in my area are all up in arms and have really gotten aggressive to sport bike riders in general. Even the place we normally hold bike night just booted us out and no one else will allow us to gather even though we haven't done anything reckless while on their property. If we had a large enough ride like the block party here i wouldn't be too worried but seeing as i only ride with a small group of 3 or 4 people i'm a little more worried now. Plus the influx of highway patrol in my town since the incident is just ridiculous.

I have not been on the streets In years and have no desire to. All it will do is cause trouble for me and cause me to loose my lisence and bike. Not worth it IMO!
