2006 Husky 610
#1
Buddy has a 610 SM, exel wheels, RSC, Brembo master. Said it started smoking white while idling in his driveway..hasn't ran it since. Said he would tak $1000 for it.

Good deal?
Easy-ish fix?

Oil in the carb maybe? Run it for a few minutes and see if it burns out. If not then 1 cylinder motors are not the hardest to work on anyway, so if the price is right id consider it. If you get the chance tho, test ride it before buying it!! These bikes can be a bitch to get them running right. Lots of people end up having to get some sort of tuning device to get them running good.

Oh right it was carbed, ignore the tuning device part

He said it was smoking quite a bit, I'm assuming headgasket, which scared me at first until I read through some repair threads and like you said, single cylinder looks pretty simple!

Ill go look it over, pull the plug check for coolant in the chamber confirm the bad head gasket.

Any other things I could check without running the bike? 1g doesn't sound bad, see them on craigs from 4-5gs

i wouldn't buy a husqvarna. those things are nothing but problems. imho
sprained my ankle on one years ago when it backfired on a kickstart. it was a 400 2 stoke. but still.. never again. lol

nothing but problems is a bit harsh, i do get the impression from reading husky forums that they have running issues, but other than that they are fantastic bikes. if they go for 4-5 and you can get it for 1000 then go for it! changing headgasket should be a breeze. i have an injected 07 610 and its a blast, dont have to change the oil every week either.

He said its jetted properly, ran good, I'm gonna look it at more today. Can you do a compression check if the headgasket is bad? Wont it bleed pressure into the cooling system? I guess a good way to confirm HG is bad

If you were closer I'd pick that bike up in a heartbeat

^^ that's the way I feel too, put some man hours into it.

Fresh headgasket
cam chain and tensioner
water pump impeller
Fresh fluids and gaskets

Be a pretty good bike, be into hopefully <2k in the end..but who knows might just tear it all the way down and build it up
