What's this ticking noise?

2004 kawasaki 636

kinda high pitched ticking noise at stock idle when bike is straight up. kinda coming from the right side of the motor.

at stock idle leaned on the kick stand no noise.

as soon as the bike is leaned off the kickstand or any more to the right ticking stays.

any throttle input/increase in idle and the noise almost immediately stops.

Sound has became noticeable after I tightened the stock cct.

This isn't a loose cct rattle.

Anyone heard of something like this before? I wouldn't be concerned if the ticking was consistent, but it instantly goes away as soon as the bike is leaned to the left.

thanks dude, never even considered that. After doing some searching on kawi forums. Some dude had same tinkering noise, pulled out cct and just started all over. Just did that and my little ticking noises are gone.

Unfortunately the ticking is back. After the install of the manual cct I thought I was gone, but just comes and goes less frequently. Now it makes anywhere from 3-5 ticks every 20 seconds. Almost consistently and doesn't matter whether the bike is leaned or not.

Sounds like the cam chain for sure but it's bugging the hell out of me because the ticking comes and goes instead of being constant will upload a video soon

Any looser and it rattles crazy and any tighter it whines.

In general with motor noises, I'd be more concerned if the ticking was consistent

Are you sure your oil level is good...? Sometimes people look over the simplest things...

I wonder if it could be frpm the cam chain guide thing being worn or screwed up sonehow. I still dont have much experoence with bike motors

Yeah oil level fills up the glass when the bike is level.

I think i'm just being paranoid. The noise still comes and goes, but I'm pretty sure its just a worn out cam chain.

Heater bolts all tight? Sometimes exhaust leaks could kinda sound like a tick... Just brain storming cheap easy things to check and rule out... But I can't hear it so shooting in the dark..
