I held off to start this thread until I was at least half way done so it didn't end up a year plus 100 page thread

I ended up winning the first badass raffle that Billy did on here so I had a bare frame and $600 to work with. At first I was going to put the frame on my current stock frame bike at the time but after going thru all my spare parts I decided to start building a bike from scratch..

First purchase was the heart of the beast, picked up an engine for $500 with a 6 month warranty.


Then did some test fitting with spare parts I had to make sure everything was good to go before powder coating anything.






Started ordering some parts, got some NISSIN front calipers from @CELFLEX and that concluded the raffle money. Didn't take pictures of everything but here is the brake lines and tank fab pictures.







Here is the freshly powdered main chassis parts. The header was ceramic coated.

Looking awesome man! Are you just going to run the rad with no cage?

Also, How much does it generally cost to have headers ceramic coated like that? WIll a powder coater be able to do it?

The guy who did my powder did the header along with everything else so I'm not sure what just the header would cost?

I'm still up in the air with what I'm going to do for radiator support, I will probably end up doing a strap in the center of the radiator and tie it into the upper mounts for a short term solution. Most likley end up getting a standard 05-06 rad cage and redo the whole top mount set up and get it powdercoated along with some other parts and pieces I wish I would have done from the get go.

Just picked up supplys to get the one fan I have mounted up for now. Found a couple 2 prong water proofish plugs to splice in right off the fan wires so if I need to pull the radiator at any point it can be done quick and easy. That and 4 quarts of some cheap motorcycle oil to put in just to drain back out after a few minutes of idling to hopefully flush any thing that could be creeping around in the oil pan or where ever else.



Just need to finish this radiator fan/wiring, lower radiator mount, get fresh coolant and oil in it, Airbox, gas tank, battery and cross my fingers and fire it up!

Didn't get as far last night as I was hoping, I got the radiator fan bracket made and lower radiator mount finished.






Tried to show my clearances of fan/header/radiator after the lower mount was made below.

This was my reaction a few minutes ago..

Got all fresh fluids in it and turned it over for a few 10-15 second cycles before I hooked up the fuel lines. It fired up after a few try's once the pump/tank were hooked up, but it wouldn't stay idleing on its own with out the idle cranked way up or with out me feathering the throttle? It wasn't registering any RPM's on my gauge? Switched to a gauge I know the RPM's worked on and still nothing?

Dose anyone know what sensor the gauge gets its RPM reading from?
