Do I take off 03/04 636 choke butterflies?

Asking for a buddy, it seems like the right thing to do, whats everbody doing about these?

I took the choke cables off the TB, and left the butterflys... Runs great.

I remove the cable on all my bikes.

Don't quote me, I'm not a mechanic by any, but the choke butterflies are on a motor as to when the motor heats up to temp it automatically regulates the butterflies. Reason for choke is cold weather start up. I don't run the cables. I let the bike regardless of weather warm up for a bit.

It's not really a choke, it doesn't adjust air fuel mixture, it just turns up the idle by opening the same butterflies as the throttle..

You remember the idle adjust I have on the side of my bike? That's hooked up where the stock ''choke cable'' was hooked up. I added a bigger roller so I could go higher than the factory setting.

I just reread your first post. If you're talking about removing the secondary butterflies, thats a top end mod.
We use mostly low end torque, I would recommend you leave the secondary butterflies on a stunt bike and remove them on a race bike.

Leave them on, I took mine out and lost the screws and my idle sucks :P

leave them on, i took mine off since i thought it would make big difference like on my gixxer and was the oposite, bike ran like shit

Rog i remember you idle lever on the side of you bike, so that was hooked up to the choke cable and you can adjust you idle with that because the "choke" cable opens the inner butterflies just like the idle cable.... i got ya, nice, ive wondered how you had the set up, Im going to tell him about his, maybe he'll get the same thing going on.

and yes it was the secondary butterflies I was talking about taking off, we thought those were choke. We didnt know they moved electronically. Is there a way to sync these 2ndary butterflies? his are not all lined up perfect

I've never synchronized a set of secondary butterflies. My guess would be it's probably done by adjusting the sensor that tells the computer where they are positioned, it should look just like the tps.
