I'm a bigger guy, I put heavier springs up front with 07-08 zx6 forks so I can still have some options for compression. Because of that, I have it set around the halfway mark for compression (fairly stiff) and about the same for rebound. I want it to spring back fast, but not unpredictably fast.

I'm running my bike to stunt, commute and on the occasional twisty road. Any recommendations? Maybe just keep it setup for my weight or soften up the rebound at most? Really bugs me if I don't feel the bike is setup as good as can be..

so i set the rear on full hard (the little flathead screw on top of the shock), and while i appreciate the stiffness, I feel lie im on a pogo stick when under heavy braking. whats the cure?? the RR's travel is ridiculous in the rear!

That dial on the top is the Rebound stiffness. If its on full hard it will shoot the suspension back up after being compressed "harder"

edit: You probably know that. But would that not be the reason it feels that way?

yeah it would be, dont need to be at full hard on that screw for rebound back that one off a lil n tighten the spring itself a bit for more compression stiffness then dial the rebound to how you want it

how do i do that? turn that ring at the bottom? wont that just raise the tail even more?

The rings adjust the preload of the rear suspension. There should be a dial for the rebound(top) and compression(bottom). When adjusting preload you measure the sag between suspension fully depressed and sitting on the bike(sag is the difference). Then the compression and rebound is basically on feel.

Check out some vids on YouTube to adjust your sag then you can play with the compression/rebound to find where you want it.

If I have anything wrong please correct me. I have just been researching this lately and haven't started playing with my own bike yet.

This I could understand. Thats why I won't personally go very far from a normal bike setup. Only a spin or two on the compression/rebound dials. I'm not a very big guy though so little adjustment would go a long way in my mind.

on my 03 I ran the rear stiff loved it but on my 11 I'm still at factory settings thinking about making it stiffer soon after i get my cage and subcage
