The drz does do well off road! Went up a nasty trail that I thought would be hard for even a dirt bike or maybe the drz with nobbies but I made it up with street tires. I love this bike. If you plan to do lots you'll need a bigger sprocket but high idle you can get it pretty slow with just stock sprockets.
