Even though i didnt do anything different except the oil change to the bike, didnt knock, rattle, or even tick....oh and my uncle and cousin both own a shop both are certified and they tell me its not advisable to do so...i guess they are just bullshitting me too

I've done it in bikes and cars. I've never had an issue.
Maybe I just got lucky. I'll have to see if there's any real info out there proving it's bad. What's the argument against it? The only thing I can think of is loosening up sludge around seals when switching to synthetic. That shouldn't cause failures. I think it's all hype. No offense but just because your family members are certified mechanics, it doesn't mean they know shit about oil characteristics.

Idk pretty much everything ive seen on the issue its not recommended....plus i would hope mechanics would know enough about oil characteristics otherwise it would be kinda dumb to get oil changes and work done by them...im not saying they know everything but if they would advise against doing certain things to provide longevity of a vehical im gonna take thier advise

I just did some quick research and I can't find one credible source saying its a bad idea. Every oil manufacturer, plus popular mechanics said there's absolutely no issue switching back and forth. The only people I could find that advised against it were people saying "I heard it's bad" on forums. This is where most mechanics would fall as well. They do not know anything about the actual oil properties, they are just telling you what they heard or basing their opinion off a skewed set of data.

Last time i looked into it was about a year ago and every machanic ive asked advised against it so i will have to look back into it but like i also said ive had an issue where switching oils crapped out my motor in my bike...so i just nvr did it again but i run synthetic in almost everything i have now either way...i have no objection in saying im wrong so i will do more reaseach and learn more about it

noone recommends it, wether theres a reason is kind of irrelevant, why would you keep switching back and forth anyhow, seems just rather stupid to me, i can understand if your bike acts different or slips or something to switch back but otherwise theres no point. im sure its not the best idea to do wether theres harm in it or not. and your motor wouldnt pop from changing oils unless you went from one weight to an extreme other.

i don't know what this threads about anymore?lol
but, i think motorcycle oils have special additives for high revving motors. its special oil. thats why i use honda motorcycle oil, because its specially formulated for that motor. in a car if i switch to synthetic i stay with synthetic.
comparing car oil to motorcycle oil is like comparing apples to oranges. one shares the oil with the clutch. the other does not.
biggest mistake i see people make when changing clutch in a bike is not letting the plates and fibers sit in (motorcycle oil) overnight before install. its key

neither do i, but I'm going to throw in a random question.
The 4.0 in my jeep has lifter tick every now and then. I'm at 142k and lifter tick is a common problem with this motor. Should I try out that lucas oil stabilizer? I tried sea foam before my last oil change, it didn't seem to do much, if anything.
