So i was curious a few years back i put this single 10" MTX enclosure and amp combp in my wifes car and haven't had any issues with it till recently. actually i don't even know if its an issue yet. basically it came as a set from MTX so you would assume its compatable. Basically i put it in the car over 3 months ago with no issues til now somthing has been drawing power from the battery and kills it. It happened today and my wife had to get the car jumped at school. When she got home i checked the battery and it had 12.59V and when its running its showing just over 14v so that tells me its getting charged so i'm assuming that something is drawing power while its sitting so naturally i assume its the sub/amp or CD player. only thing i noticed was that the Amp was really hot to hot to touch so i'm wondering if anyone with extensive knowledge on amps and subs could chime in and give me some advice. The amp has a power light on it when its on and that not lite up when the car is off. Any help/advice would be awesome! i'm a novice at best when it comes to this stuff.

prolly not the stereo system but when in doubt check for draw. Since u think its the radio or amp pull those first.

I already pulled the power cable from the amp not the radio yet. its a damn buick so i have to pull the whole front dash panel to get the the stereo. thanks!

What year and model Buick?
Instead of pulling radio just pull the fuse to the radio and see if the draw goes away.. if not hit me up.. (remember I work at a GM dealership) Ill ask one of my electrical techs what he would start with...

1. Do you have a Fuse on your power line going to the amp?
2. what gauge wires are you using for the power and ground to the amp?

Yeah i have an inline fuse to my amp and i'm using 0 guage (red) power cable and i think 0 guage (blue) for the ground to the amp. this system used to be in my wife's galant and then i just swapped it over, the install in the shop was done professionally by a shop i just transplanted it into the buick.
Jake its a 2000 century. It was my granfathers car and we bought it from the estate when he passed away last year it was so cheap we couldn't pass it up it was only $1000 and only had 60k on it. I fully intend to pull the fuses instead of the radio way less work involved. i'm just hopeing i don't have to pull it.

Well did my test and it's the radio, pulled the fuse and the amps went down to 0. What should I look for a loose wire a bad connection?

It's the 15amp fuse that runs the radio, RFA, hvac, cluster and data link. I pulled the radio, hvac controls, the gauge cluster the light switch the 12v lighter and still can't find this draw. I'm gonna try and look up a wiring diagram tonight.
