XDL judging

Hi guys, im not hating at all, but i'm very confused on how ernie vigil scored so high at XDL. He is an incredible rider, i just don't understand why this particular run was scored how it was. Is there something in this run that im linking below that is above my head? Im not trying to start anything im just genuinely curious. There have been a lot of dudes that i've seen KILL at XDl but they score so much lower than some riders who i thought weren't too hot.

Comparing his finals run to Julian Welsh's final run (because they are similar in content), it looks like Julian should have been MUCH higher considering Julian was doing figure 8 HC circles and did a link out of a 50/50 where he took off his throttle hand and Ernie did a botched 50/50 circle and a ralph louie... I don't know either of these dudes but after watching their runs and then looking at the scoring i was really confused.

According to the scoring, Julian placed 7th on the run below and Ernie placed 6th

Both runs were sick, but I saw a few more fuck ups from attempted tricks from Julian. I'm sure that has something to do with it. Also the aggression is what killed his score. Ernie's run seemed more aggressive.

Julien didn't throw down any acro's. Im sure that knocked his score down a bit. Regardless both runs were awesome!

Julien KILLED it!! I am personally shocked that he didn't finish top 5. Watching him ride in person is quite the experience. He qualified 1st......for good reason.

2 tricks is not going to give you a much higher score. There's a lot more to the scoring. But it's a never ending debate. LOL

Also, there are rules and you must ride to the scoring system. If you don't, then chances are you won't place where you think you should've or felt that person should've.

I am not a competitor in the XDL series so im sure my thoughts are didly squat.

but if aggressiveness is doing rolling burnouts and drifting with pow wheelies for the first minute. Then thats what you get. XDL does stand for Xtreme Drift League.

Acros? Ernie did 1 and that was a Christ!

IMO, Julian had a much more entertaining/tech run, didnt put his feet down merely as much ( dont know if there knocking score for ernie's like they supposedly use to)

but, just like SIC J stated. There will always be questioning about rules and what not.

Why not get into racing? Theres only 1 true winner.

aggression has to do w all aspects of your riding...3ft diameter circle compared to a 30ft diameter circle for example. in america we reward going big, especially at big tracks where we have the room. if we did not do this, then everyone would be riding tech in a 100 foot area and that's not that entertaining in person (maybe on the interweb it is). if there is very little risk, there shouldn't be as much reward - 50/50 circles real wide carry the danger of high siding, washing out, etc; whereas 50/50 fig 8's (while technically more difficult) carry very little risk of failure, usually resulting in a stall at worst...both are hard, both score well on difficulty but one is more aggressive than the other.

julien rode really well, only knock is the rear tire skids popping the limiter sounds and may look cool but is really just a bunch of fluff. he def killed it this weekend for sure.

video does no run justice, especially from the angle they were shot - you can't tell depth.

like most of the riders, I just ride and do what i like to do and leave the rest up to the judges, this is why they judge.

and ANY IDIOT who says there's favorites being played is a flat out idiot and liar who doesn't know wtf they are talking about...and i challenge each and every one of those people to put their money where their mouth is and come volunteer their time to judge...based upon the written rules.

there's a reason XDL is not only still around, but is looked to as the world leader in stuntriding organization...to the tune of FIM consulting with XDL for the coming year when Stuntriding will be an officially sanctioned FIM competion.

I just watched those runs as well and am confused also. But what do i know, Im a retired XDL judge
