The diode just keeps current flowing in 1 direction. Just wire the diode/resistor onto the pink wire going to the ignition on the key.

wired it in to my ignition and it worked!!! fixed my prime and spark problem. so it does work with your key.

hey guys. tried the mod cause i lost my key and want to ride. bought specified parts and no dice. first i tried it as first stated but, i have a dual fan setup with one wired direct on battery so as another post says i put the blue with the red/ black. cures that problem. with toggle on i got fans, lights but, does not start. am i missing something? trying to attach photos as well but, does not seem to be working... we'll see... HELP!!!! lol

I just hooked the fan power to the horn wires and now the fan comes on with ignition and is fused in the factory fuse block with no extra wires running anywhere. If you really wanted a switch as well, you could interrupt one of these wires through a switch....

This mod rocks!!! But my fuel pump still won't work at least I don't have to deal with a key anymore!!! Thanks for the link Steve

so took my ignition apart found that the diode had fried anyone know what happens when/if pink wire gets more then 9v
