Ticking time bomb?
#1
Ever since I put the 88 kit on my little bike, it has had a tick when it is running. I have checked, checked, and re-checked the valve clearances and they are good (unless the spec changes with the different cam in there... what is the proper clearance for the TB cam?) But every time I run it, the ticking bothers me because I don't know what's causing it! Today I thought it might be the cam chain, but don't these motors have auto tensioners?

Any ideas what it could be?

Not sure why it ticks, is it really loud and you hear it at a long distance or is it a low tick?
The valves in my bike ticks a bit, but for me it feels better to have some ticking then completely silent valves, so you know that they won't get burned..

Idk wha it could be but I wouldn't worry about it. I have a 50 with an 88 kit that knocks a tiny bit its just not worth me rebuilding it. It's been knocking for awhile as well these motors are overly built with good quality I wouldn't word about it just ride it and check valves every so often.

lol no problem man... I didn't even notice

The tick definitely sounds like valves or something similar and you can hear it from a good 20 feet away at least. It's most apparent at idle. It was never there before I put the BB kit on...

Lol I seemed like a retard typing that up haha, and yeah idk i wouldn't worry about it. If you can shoot a video of it idling and a few revs and what not it would be easier for us to tell, but a lot of these big bore kits have a little tick to them.
