bike running hot

[GIL with 1 L]

Idk what happen looked at my gauges was reading 244 .I stopped the bike let it cool off for a few minutes popped the cap checked the coolant ,oil ,both fans worked wasn't losing power ,outside temp in the 50's. Started the bike and it read 255.

Gages screwed up? on my old bike they temp would bounce around like crazy then i switch the gauges and it stayed at 220 for the most part

Maybe an air pocket or something. What were you doing when it jumped up?

Only a few minutes of being shut off then you took your radiator cap off?? It should have sprayed all over the place like crazy from the pressure. . .Unless your coolant level was low to begin with. Sounds like you need to fill your coolant level back up when your bike is cold.

what this guy said . my 07 was running HI for a while and i just rode it that way. took the thermostat out finally and got a new one. tested the old one though and it opened right up, but there is a little hole at the top and it was turned sideways some how. i think it created air pockets in my system. i replaced the thermostat and made sure that hole was up top and its been good since then

Exactly what I was thinking... Even with low coolant that
cap would have shot right off and you still would have gotten
some spray.... Unless there is Nothing in there...

Had this same problem with my 636. Ended up being a little tiny crack in my radiator. Not enough to leak coolant (dripped once and a while) but enough to let some pressure out, don't ask me how it worked lol. Could be why your cap didn't fly off when you took it off due to pressure being lost through the crack. All I did was find an aluminum welder, had him patch the crack with a little bead action, then flushed the system and was golden. Bike only gets to about 215 after a good long session.

Not saying this is a culprit but check for any cracks or pressure leaks to be sure.
