how do YOU clean your guns?

After every use I like to break everything down clean any dirt,metal filing,gun powder residue out of the receiver and trigger area,then run a bore snake thru the barrel..tiny tiny amounts of lead and copper can build up along the riflings over time and possibly effect accuracy..after cleaning it top to bottom I lightly oil every moving part and steel surface...Its a good idea to keep everything lubricated because any steel surface is prone to rust and corrosion,but not so much oil that it makes outside dirt and gun powder residue actually stick to it...


I'm real picky about my guns being clean and functioning perfect...I don't get how some people come back from the range and just toss their guns in a closet..

as far as your gun jamming,if everything is clean and clear,I'd try running some different ammo and see if it still happens.

buy a better gun... Just kidding. after every 200 rounds(just about every trip to the range) ill just filed strip my pistol, run a brush through the barrel 2-3 times, swab it til the cloth is clean. then just hit the moving parts with a nylon brush, and wipe it with clean swab to pick up any residue, 1 drop of oil on each side of the slide, and im good to go.

when i cleaned some rifles that have been sitting from 1946 and the late 70's i tear them down as far as i can, brass brush anything with scale mil on it, soak it all in cleaning solution, if there is rust, ill use emery cloth to break it down. run a brass brush down the bore, swab it, pipe cleaners and q-tips in the tight spots, oil where needed and good to go. did all that to a winchester model 94 30-30 and some russian mosgin nagant carbine from 1945.. both are ready to fire.

but too much oil will do more harm than good.

looks like i was having trouble because of shit ammo. they were really old round (im thinking somewhere around 20 years) that my dad had stashed away. my new rounds never jam, then throw in an old one and it jammed. kinda weird

I have a desk dedicated to gun cleaning, i disassemble completely and clean each part then reassemble oiling each part as i put it back together. I enjoy cleaning my guns as much as i do shooting.

i clean my gun once a week (day after i come home from hunt) and chokes are full of gunpowder,barrel is full of marks and melted plastic and then i have to use all kind of brass brushes

+1---Hey do you go to a outdoor range or just hunt? Let me know the next time you want to go to a outdoor range,I need to put some down range outdoors cause Im tired of indoor ranges.
