Help with circles
#31
\r\n \r\n Yea man, riding alone SUCKS sometimes. There was always so much motivation when I used to rock fiddy\'s with an old friend a few years back.
\n
\nThis thread has been a great help. I\'m gonna throw another bit into the mix. After riding tonight (still no footage) I got a lot better at doing tight 180\'s just by getting a little closer to the tank and forcing my shoulders to be square with the the bike. If I lean back, I tend to end up chasing the bike and it is actually turning faster than I am since I\'m farther away from the point that its pivoting at. I think my body weight was actually casuing the hi-side from me catching back up so fast.. and at the least stopping the bike from rotating and going back into a straight wheelie.
\n
\nAs far as doing the recon circles, running at least 25psi seemed to help me. I just get a little lean on, square up, and as long as I\'m staying totally with the bike as 1 unit it just goes on its own. Any more tire pressure and my straightline stuff is crap. Also makes it so hard to hold idle when all of my effort is going into side to side balance.
\n
\nOne more thing I had to work on was looking where I was going. My body tried to follow where I was looking and caused me to lean that way too. Stay with the bike but still look where you want to go. Just had to repeat that over and over again to myself hah.\r\n

I did this in the lot on sunday and it helped greatly. I found my sweet spot on idle and started applying advice from this thread from what i already learned this summer and BAM! about a half hour into the session i was rotating.
\n
\nIf 4 circles with a 8 foot radius is turning circles than im fucking onto something! It felt really good to turn so many tight ones. Alot of looking and throttle blipping at the "wrong times" kept it going in the same radius without straightening up.
\n
\nI still gotta work on my body position. But i did keep myself alot tighter to the bike. I was trying to keep my left knee touching my tank. Rather than leaning back. I tried looking way right (i turn right, it feels natural) into my circles to where i wanted to go and it helped keep me on track. I still lean into the circle when i feel like the bike is trying to highside out still. but from turning super wide 20 ft circles 3 months ago im feeling pretty pumped.
\n
\nTo bad im running out of season again... fucking cold.\r\n

\r\n \r\n Im just throwin this up here since im still learning.
\n
\nThings that have worked for me:
\n1. Come into the circle a bit faster and off the brake. Keeps you from stalling out which im still doing alot.
\n2. Tap the brake rather then riding it. Lets me keep the circle going longer but looks choppyer. Still trying to figure out how to smoothen it out.
\n3. Pull on the right handlebar harder if you feel like your about to highside. Aside from dipping the bike back in it also forces your body to the right side and back centered over the bike.
\n
\nIm trying to get myself to look into the circle but I cant quite naturally feel the bike so im still staring at the tire alot

your circles look like mine a week ago try starting ur circle a little lower and gasing into it.
\r\nI would always start mine too high and only get 1 and a half now I\'m at 3 to 5.\r\n

\r\n \r\n i learned ss circles in about 4 months, things that i\'ve realized:
\nto the left:
\ngo idle
\ndip by shifting weight to left leg and pushing with your left arm the handlebar while pulling with your right one (not too much tho )
\nif it wanna highside slap that bitch and pull it back to the circle
\n
\nbut most important if you feel like anything goes bad pull in the clutch and you are good ... i think i highsided 3 or 4 times total while learning\r\n

I\'m about 5 months into my O\'s progress and this is exactly what\'s helped me out along the way. Also I was trying to dip in too far back with my body super close to the bike (Knees to seat/nuts on tank status ) I re positioned my body back away from the bike (while still staying centered with the bike) and started entering the circle a little lower than before and then applied the steps listed above by adichino and I went from spinning 3/4 or 1 full rotations to doing 3 or 4. I still need to work on body positioning and smooth out my gas/brake timing a little more tho.\r\n
