\r\n \r\n First off, a little background info on myself: My brother, who is my best friend in this world, is a Seargent in the USMC. He is leaving for his 3rd deployment in January. He has lost friends, and made several personal sacrifices, in order to protect our nation, and it\'s freedoms. It makes me ABSOLUTELY sick to even think about someone protesting a soldiers funeral, for any reason. I had an interesting conversation about this "church" with him about a year ago, when a soldiers father sued the church.

\nHere is my take.....if we silence the Westboro Church or any members of their congregation, by any means, we are in essence turning against what our soldiers are actually fighting for. FREEDOM. Unfortunately, every sacrifice made by American soldiers affords these SCUMBAGS the freedom of speech, and the right to gather without the threat of religious persecution. That\'s what the USA was founded for, the very principles we want to take away from the Westboro Church.

\nI am in no way condoning the actions of the Westboro Church, and would love personally to off them one by one, as well. But, how can we claim to honor our fallen soldiers, and dishonor the very freedoms they fight and die for?

\nIn the words of a christian: Turn the other cheek. People like the members of Westboro thrive on confrontation and conflict. If anything, I believe the protests at funerals are more of a show, than anything. They want to make their beliefs known, and they have found a disgusting, yet completely legal way to do it.\r\n
